Hooks stole the lead late and defeated Elite 8-4 on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Hooks batting in the top of the fifth when Andrew Lightfoot singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Hooks earned the victory despite allowing Elite to score three runs in the first inning. Elite's big inning was driven by singles by Chris Duckworth and AJ Rios.
Elite took an early lead in the first inning. Rios drove in two when Rios singled.
Hooks knotted the game up at three in the top of the fourth inning. Tanner Allred hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.
Nate Imig took the win for Hooks. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out nine and walking one.
Rios took the loss for Elite. The bulldog went five and a third innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits and striking out four.
Hooks totaled nine hits in the game. Dustin Thompson, Nick Zamora, and Coleman Gamble all managed multiple hits for Hooks. Thompson led Hooks with three hits in four at bats.
Deiondre Malcom went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Elite in hits.
