Hooks snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-5 victory over Bulldogs on Sunday. The game was tied at five with Hooks batting in the top of the sixth when Daniel Zamora homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
In the second inning, Hooks got their offense started. Hooks scored two runs when Ryan Snider singled.
Bulldogs knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning. Art Vargas drew a walk, scoring one run.
Hooks pulled away for good with two runs in the sixth inning.
Matt Bailey earned the victory on the hill for Hooks. The hurler went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five.
Jeremiah took the loss for Bulldogs. The hurler went three innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one.
Don started the game for Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one Tanner Allred started the game for Hooks. The righty surrendered three runs on four hits over four innings, striking out one
Hooks hit one home run on the day. Zamora went deep in the sixth inning.
Hooks tallied 13 hits on the day. Allred, Nick Zamora, Zamora, Snider, and Rodney McDaniel each managed multiple hits for Hooks. Zamora and Allred each collected three hits to lead Hooks.
Don went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Bulldogs in hits.
